An update from Revive UMC’s Single Board: The 10 member Single Board, along with Rev. Katie Meek, began a September book study from Mission Possible: A Simple Structure for Missional Effectiveness by Kay Kotan and Blake Bradford. We did this to better prepare us to lead Revive in this next season. On October 10th and 11th, we will hold a retreat in combination with the Visioning Team to bring words and ideas together.
Our Mission as a United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. As Revive UMC, we will be refining our Vision, one that has energy and momentum. From our Mission and our Vision, we will write our Core Values, and come up with 3-5 God-sized Goals for the next year, along with the framework in which to implement our Goals as a Church family.
Pastor Katie is not only bringing her experiences to the table, but including input from your surveys and from the small group meetings. Our aim over the next three months is to clearly communicate all of these steps to our Church family.
Community Caring Center: Did you know that Revive has donated over 1,600 pounds of food and household goods this year to the Azle Community Caring Center?! In our community, caring for the hungry is a growing commitment. Thank you for answering the call. Let’s try to make it to 2,500 pounds by December! Right now, the Community Caring Center needs mac ‘n cheese, canned tuna, canned soups, instant mashed potatoes, rice, beans, cereal, and ramen. Bring your donations on Sundays to worship.
Additionally, you have donated over $4,000.00 this year to the Community Caring Center, which according to their Director allows them to buy food at an average of 10¢per pound. Friends - that’s 40,000 pounds!
Reaching Our Neighbors Masterclass: The Horizon Texas Conference is offering training on how to be proactive in welcoming our neighbors. A group will be attending a training on Oct 5 (3:00-5:00 p.m.) in Decatur. There are also opportunities in Hurst on Oct 16 and online on Oct 30. If you’re interesting in being trained and helping us to reach as many as we can with hospitality and inclusion, contact Nancy Ashmore (nancyashmore1234@yahoo.com) or Christine Mochel (calm0219@aol.com), or sign up at https://htcumc.jotform.com/kofiwilliams/reaching-our-neighbors-.
Service Opportunity at Cross Timbers: Cross Timbers has requested some admin help for teachers. In past years, volunteers have made copies for teachers to free them up for other work. If you’d like to give an hour or two of your time each week to help our teachers, email katiemeek@reviveumcazle.org.
Cross Timbers Supplies: With the school year underway, the teachers have asked for paper towels for their classrooms. If you plan on shopping at either Costco or Sams and have room in your cart for a package of paper towels, the teachers would appreciate it! Thank you.
Photo/Video Consent Forms: We are attaching two Consent Forms for your completion and signature, one is for Minors and one is for all Adults. We would like to have a Consent Form completed for every individual at Revive. After completion, you can turn them in at Church. You will find them on the website under the "About" tab.
Ongoing Activities
Bible Studies: Join us at Azle Christian Church for Wednesday Bible Studies and Children/Youth Activities. Morning Adults meet at 10:00 a.m and discuss the scripture for the upcoming Sunday morning sermon. On Wednesday evenings, a light dinner is served at 5:30 p.m. with studies at 6:00 p.m. The Adults continue on their study of Genesis. Kelsi has activities planned for Children/Youth.
Crafting Ministries meets every third Tuesday at Jill DeMoss’s house (2033 Spinnaker Ln, Azle).
Seed the Capital Campaign: In order for Revive to purchase property or a building, we’ll need to have a capital campaign. In advance of that future effort, you are invited to prayerfully consider today what will fuel our future as the people called United Methodists here in this place. Your second-mile giving can help “seed” our building fund. Check out the big thermometer eachweek and place any offerings in the bowl beneath it. Our Building Seed has grown to $30,729.00 (08/31//25). See Dana Hollingsworth for more info.
Learn Our Songs at Home: Now you can take worship home by listening to “Revive UMC Azle 2025” playlists on Spotify and Amazon. The aim of this playlist is to help us learn the contemporary songs that we sing in worship. Listen to the playlist while you’re getting ready, cooking, driving, or just to get a little more worship in. And then you’ll be excited to hear these familiar songs in Sunday worship! To get the playlist, just search for “Revive UMC Azle 2025” on Spotify or Amazon.
